Fav Yoga Posture: It changes from day to day, but I’ve never met a standing-balance posture I didn’t like!
Off the mat: I teach genetics, molecular biology, and cell biology undergraduate courses at the University of Oklahoma. I love spending time with my family, reading, hiking, and being outside.
Journey to Yoga: I attended my first Hatha yoga class in 2001 and completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2017. Over the years, I’ve explored a variety of yoga styles, but I am most drawn to the mental and physical challenge of Baptiste power yoga and the reflective stillness of restorative-yin yoga. One aspect of the practice I struggle with is letting go of expectations that my practice should look a certain way. Luckily, I’ve had amazing teachers during my journey who have reminded me to approach my practice with kindness and patience, ideas that have become a central focus in my own teaching.
